We had a blast last summer and we can’t wait to see you again at our camps this year! The camps will be led by our awesome instructors and throughout the camp, students will learn new instruments, sharpen their musical skills and knowledge. Also, snacks will be provided daily during the camp! What is more fun than snacking and making music together with your friends! At the end of each camp, a performance will be held and students will have the opportunity to share what they learn during the five-day camp. Each class is limited to 6-8 participants and registration will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s only $159 if you register by April 10th! Hi welcome! After more than 40 years of combined experience in music education, we understand it is challenging to stay motivated to practice daily so we have a reward program for you! It is similar to karate belt tests, every 3 months or so (depending on how many years you are with us) the instructor will schedule a test for you or your child. If the students pass the test, they will receive one of these really cool wristbands for their level. They also get a certificate of achievement. The best part? It's all FREE for you! Flower Mound Music Academy is the only music school in Flower Mound that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids and teens love them!), trophies, AND certificates for passing musical tests with the Musical Ladder System®. As the end of year is approaching, we would like to thank all of you for your support to allow us to be part of your children’s music journey. One of the most rewarding parts as teachers and parents is to see our young musicians participate in recitals! Recital is an important tradition in our young students’ musical journey, providing them a platform to present what they have learned and practiced during the semester. It also allows them to build up their confidence level since it is never easy to stand in front of an audience and play a song! In Flower Mound Music Academy’s recitals, we strive to provide an encouraging and positive environment for our students to perform. They may feel pressured while they prepare their music, but we bring positivity to our students and walk with them during the preparation process. It is vital to learn that the journey is far more important than the destination. When students reflect on their work, they will be amazed by the progress they have made in preparation for the recital. We would like to invite you to come to our Fall semester recital, which will include exciting Christmas music as well as classical pieces played by our hard-working young musicians. We look forward to seeing ya’ll on December 17!

Welcome FMMAers! October is here~ We are always very proud of each one of our students because it is them who make FMMA vibrant and exciting! As music teachers, we understand the struggles of asking your children to practice. It can be challenging to build up a habit of practicing, but the good news is - once you get used to the routine, it always stays with you. Hence, we have two goal/rewarding systems to help students stay on track. The first one is our Musical Ladder System. Students are warmly encouraged to take part in this program where we challenge participating students with goal-oriented tests periodically. The tests are custom built around the students. It could be a technique that they are currently trying to master or a song they need to memorize. When our students have a test coming up, they focus and practice more, then parents are proud, teachers are delighted, and thus everybody wins! Once the students passed the test, they will be rewarded with a wristband to celebrate their achievements. Another goal we established for our students is to participate in our Fall/Spring recital. Recitals help students not only gain confidence to perform in front of an audience, but also appreciate their peer’s performances. In addition to sharing their musical talents with family and friends, students will hear how other students perform on stage. Our recital is a positive and low-pressure platform for students to grow and shine. We encourage your children to participate! It will be one of the Saturdays in December and we will keep you posted. We are so grateful to report that our Spring Recital was a blast! One of the highlights of the year is having our wonderful students perform in public and these young musicians did a fantastic job ! They enjoyed performing on stage as well as being listeners to support their peers in the audience. At the end of the recital, we took a group picture and each student received a certificate to celebrate their achievement. They also received a gift bag fo them to enjoy afterwards. Besides our performers, each parent deserves a standing ovation since we know you make a commitment to supporting your children’s music-learning journey and we appreciate your time and efforts. Your support is a cornerstone in the foundation of our music program and FMMA continues to flourish because of you! Thank you! Hi FMMA! I hope you're doing well and having a great year of making music with us! Here at Flower Mound Music Academy, we are always looking at ways we can improve your lesson experience and give our students more. The one thing we've learned as music teachers for over 40 years of combined experience is that parents want to know 'more' about how their child is doing. We are excited to announce that we've joined up with a national music lesson award system called the Musical Ladder System® (please see the photo attached). This is a proven system that helps students get excited about music and helps keep parents 'informed' as to how they are doing. Similar to karate belt tests, every 3 months or so (depending on how many years you are with us) your teacher will schedule a test for you or your child. If the students pass the test, they will receive one of these really cool wristbands for their level. They also get a certificate of achievement. This program has been proven for years to bring a smile to parents and students and we're very excited about enhancing your music lesson experience. At certain levels they also get personalized trophies with their name on it. The best part? It's all FREE for you, our valued student, and parent. Most karate schools charge their clients $50.00 per test. However, all of your wristbands, trophies, certificates and online account are all FREE and part of your tuition. We're working hard to give you more, so please send us your feedback on the system, and it's time to start climbing the Musical Ladder! Lastly, we only have a few slots left for our summer music camp. Please help us share the news and we are so excited to make music together this summer! And the spring recital is only a month away. Notes From Benson & Jenny: Welcome back, FMMAERS! March Newsletter We experienced a snowstorm again this year in early February, but thankfully we didn’t lose any electricity or water and were able to switch from in- person to online without interruption. Students continued to work on new pieces and make weekly progress online while staying at home warmly and safely. We are proud of our students’ perseverance in learning music regardless of the challenges of inclement weather and are extremely grateful for your support and cooperation! During that week, we launched a 3-day free winter music appreciation mini course from Feb 3-5 for our students to enjoy 3 different pieces from Debussy- The Snow is Dancing (piano), Vivaldi-winter from four seasons (violin concerto) to Rimsky Korsakov - The Snow Maiden (orchestral piece). Through these 3-day courses, students explored various music styles, from Baroque, impressionism to nationalism. They also got to appreciate the musical writing techniques each composer used in their compositions and how these composers interpreted winter in their own style! Also, we have created an FB page to connect with our students and provide some very useful information. You will find 4 themes in our weekly posts: Inspirational Monday, which we shared or posted some inspiring quotes or videos intended for our academy students to expand their musical horizons and broaden their music knowledge in addition to their regular weekly private lesson pieces. Student Spotlight Tuesday, which we focus on student success such as completing a music course or moving up to a higher level of method book. Musician's Life Wednesday, a series of composers & musicians will be introduced on Wednesday for students to explore and examine the masterpieces of these influential composers or performers. Musical Terminology Thursday will emphasize musical theory or terms we often review on music scores. Again, we are dedicated to providing your child exceptional quality music education and thank you for being part of FMMA community! We will have more exciting news next month and look forward to sharing with you next time!

Happy Chinese New Year! (Yes, we celebrate another new year in the lunar calendar!) We are so blessed to be given this opportunity to serve you and your child during this pandemic season. Besides teaching and growing with our students together, we also take our students and parent’s safety and health very seriously. That’s why we would like everyone to wear masks at all times inside the building. Please feel free to take advantage and use hand sanitizer provided by us when you come in. We also have hand sanitizers in the waiting area and each room. If you or your family members are tested positive, we will switch to online lessons for two weeks, or longer if needed. If exposed, we will switch to online lessons for one week. If our instructors experience the same situation, we will follow the same protocol to ensure that everyone stays healthy and safe when you or your child come in and take lessons with us. In addition, we will clean door handles and piano keys after each use. We will work hard to stop spreading the germs as much as we can and thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Please stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you in the next newsletter!

At the same time, we are so excited to announce that we will offer a free 3-day music appreciation mini course for our students, who can enjoy these winter music while staying home. With the expansion of InJoy Music Academy, we are so thrilled to announce that we will grow into Flower Mound Music Academy and move to a new location, which is 5 mins walking distance from the church! We want to make it more convenient for everyone. More details to come soon! Benson and I enjoy teaching kids and making a positive impact to them. We believe that we not only teach them music but also help them grow in maturity and in character.
